All the information you need to take in the OU Red/White spring football game

By Rick Couri, KRMG Sports director

The OU football team will hold its annual Red/White Spring Game Saturday at 2 p.m., and the university announced specific information for fans Wednesday.

The spring game will begin at 2 p.m., with the Second Annual Varsity O Flag Football Classic starting an hour beforehand. Suite holders will be able to enter through Gate 10, while all other fans can enter through Gates 1, 5, 7 and 11.

Fans will also have the first opportunity to purchase schedule posters and team programs for the 2010 season, and fan interactive area will be located at Gates 5 and 7. Chairback rentals also will be available.

All stadium policies, including regulations pertaining to items taken into the stadium, will be the same as any regular season game. A full listing of these policies can be found at Soonersports.com or by calling the athletic department. Because of construction in the area around the facility, the Switzer Center exhibit will be closed.

The OU Athletics Department will host a Spring Merchandise Sale from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday at the McCasland Field House. Five retailers will be on hand and will sell merchandise at discounted prices to make way for new items in the summer and fall.

The Sooners' equipment department will also be selling several game-worn items, as well as brand new items from all of OU's teams. Available items will include jerseys, helmets, shoes, shorts, warm-ups and sideline apparel.

Members of the Sooner Club and their guests will have access to free hot dogs and soft drinks at the Sooner Club's Tailgate, which will be held inside the McCasland Field House. Food will be served starting at noon and will close 30 minutes prior to kickoff.

Fans who bring merchandise bearing one of OU's outdated logos will also receive a 10 percent discount on a single item. The university encourages anyone who shops before the spring game to take their purchases to their car before entering the stadium. Bags larger than 10" x 10" will not be allowed.

The University of Oklahoma football seniors completed their draft for the 2010 Red/White Game Thursday. Oklahoma's annual spring football game is set for 2 p.m. Saturday.

Quarterback Landry Jones was the first pick of the White team. He will be coached by Brent Venables, associate head coach and defensive coordinator. The Red team will be coached by offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson, and picked defensive end Frank Alexander with their first selection.

OU Head Coach Bob Stoops will call defensive signals for the Red team.

The Winner Dinner will take place Monday evening with the victorious team dining on steak. The losing team will be treated to hot dogs and baked beans.
