Texas beauty queen sues to get title back

By Staff

A 17-year-old Texas beauty queen who charges she was stripped of her title in January because of her weight headed to court yesterday (March 16th) to try to get her crown back, after a judge rebuffed her previous attempt to temporarily block a new Miss San Antonio from being crowned.

Domonique Ramirez, who is 5-foot-8 and weighs 129 pounds, has claimed that pageant officials harassed her about her weight and told her to, quote, "get off the tacos."

But the pageant has said they just wanted to encourage better eating habits, and insist Ramirez was stripped of her crown for being habitually late to events or even skipping them altogether and breaking other rules, including not writing thank-you notes.

However, a countersuit they've brought includes among its allegations a violation of her contractual obligations regarding her weight and measurements.

Ramirez' attorney has called the accusations of her rule-breaking, quote, "outright fabrications." Ramirez was crowned Miss San Antonio last April.

QUESTION:

What do you think of Ramirez heading to court to try to get her crown back, especially when her term would've been up next month anyway?
