KJRH - This is the "Beer Summit and Political Mixer-2." More than 550 voters were able to meet candidates over a cold one. "It's not stuffy, we're not all in coats and ties and people can actually just walk up to a candidate, like they would any guy on the street and say 'hey, I'd like to know more about you," KRMG's Joe Kelley said. He served as the moderator of the event. There are dozens of races across Oklahoma on the November ballot, from county sheriff all the way up to the governor's mansion. "I think the best thing is just to get voters informed," Oklahoma voter Matt Colwell said. "The state questions are the main reason I'm here," Jennifer Barnhouse will be among the voters who will decide 11 state questions. "We have a lot at stake and I'm very interested in what's going on in politics," Barnhouse said. "Curiosity and information gathering," Robert Parker said. He watched each candidate take 90-seconds to say who they were and why they're running. "I'm just kind of looking around seeing people that I know, gathering names that I don't know and basically just trying to get enlightened," Parker said. Organizers are working on another "Beer Summit and Political Mixer." The general election is set for November 2nd.

ABC News - US and European officials said Tuesday they have detected a plot to carry out a major, coordinated series of commando-style terror attacks in Britain, France, Germany and possibly the United States. A senior US official said that while there is a "credible" threat, no specific time or place is known. President Obama has been briefed about the threat, say senior US officials. Intelligence and law enforcement authorities in the US and Europe said the threat information is based on the interrogation of a suspected German terrorist allegedly captured on his way to Europe in late summer and now being held at Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan. US law enforcement officials say they have been told the terrorists were planning a series of "Mumbai-style" commando raids on what were termed "economic or soft" targets in the countries. Pakistani militants killed 173 people with guns and grenades during the 2008 attacks in Mumbai, India.
A cybersecurity bill that lawmakers hope to pass before the end of the year includes new powers which would allow President Obama to shut down not only entire areas of the Internet, but also businesses and industries that fail to comply with government orders following the declaration of a national emergency - increasing fears that the legislation will be abused as a political tool. The draft bill is a combination of two pieces of legislation originally crafted by Senators Lieberman and Rockefeller. One of the differences between the new bill and the original Lieberman version is that the Internet "kill switch" power has been limited to 90 days without congressional oversight, rather than the original period of four months contained in the Lieberman bill. In other words, President Obama can issue an emergency declaration that lasts 30 days and he can renew it for a further 60 days before congress can step in to oversee the powers.
TODD STARNES - Fox News - Football and prayer don't mix, according to a parent who wants a PeeWee Football Association to stop pre-game prayers. Louie Fromm, who also happens to be an assistant coach in the Bonifay PeeWee Association, asked the city council in Vernon, Florida to end the traditional prayer alleging that his First Amendment rights are being violated. "This reference is in formal protest to the manner and method in which the Bonifay PeeWee Association dictates prayer that is in question strictly based upon the establishment clause," Fromm told the WJHG-TV. Before every football game and practice, the young children gather at the 50-yard line to pray. Association president Debbie Gunter said the prayer is voluntary and was established by the association's board of directors. But Coach Fromm said his son, who does not participate in the player, has been the target of other children. He told a standing-room-only crowd at the city council meeting that his son was isolated from the rest of the group and was the victim of ridicule. He also claimed that his vehicle was damaged and that someone shot his mailbox. He rejected claims that the council was being urged to appease a single parent.
TODD STARNES - Fox News - An Indianapolis bakery is facing a government investigation over allegations it refused to make rainbow-themed cupcakes for a gay student group. Members of a lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender group at Indiana University - Purdue University Indianapolis told WISH-TV that Just Cookies denied their request. The cupcakes were to be part of a celebration planned for next month's National Coming Out Day. But David Stockton, the owner of Just Cookies, said there was a problem -- they don't make cupcakes. However, there was also another issue. "We are a family business," owner David Stockton told WISH-TV. "I have some reservations about whether it should be celebrated. That is where I stand." And while some of his customers supported the decision, others were not. It just wasn't right," activist Shan Parker told the television station. "And I don't get fired up about much. You don't deny groups. If you were a woman or an African-American, people would be outraged." Get Equal Indiana accused the privately-owned family business of discrimination and vowed to protest. "We're right on the cusp of being equal with anyone else, I don't know why they would do that," Parker told Fox-59. Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard's office also weighed in on the controversy -- calling the bakery's actions "unacceptable."
Big news on the 3D front. Sources indicate that George Lucas is set on rereleasing the "Star Wars" franchise in new 3D conversions beginning in 2012. Although 3D versions have been rumored for some time, Lucas purportedly was waiting until there were enough screens available to make the release a sizable event. Fox, which released all six original "Star Wars" films, also would release the 3D versions. Episode I, "The Phantom Menace," would be first out of star-dock during early 2012. After that, each film would be released in order at the same time in consecutive years, depending on how well the first rerelease does.

NYPOST - A New Jersey restaurateur once featured on Gordon Ramsay's "Kitchen Nightmares" -- and told by the TV chef that his debt-ridden eatery was "about to swim down the Hudson" -- was eerily found floating in the river after jumping off the George Washington Bridge. Joseph Cerniglia, the 39-year-old owner of Campania in Fair Lawn, is the second chef to commit suicide after appearing on one of Ramsay's high-heat, reality-cooking series. Cerniglia -- once the executive chef at Manhattan's famed Gallagher's Steak House -- had been deeply in debt when his Italian eatery was featured in the first season of "Kitchen Nightmares" in 2007. An Illinois state trooper who killed two teenage sisters in a high-speed collision, driving 126 mph while sending e-mails and speaking to his girlfriend on his cell phone, has filed a workers' compensation claim for injuries he says he sustained in the fatal crash. Matt Mitchell, who pleaded guilty to reckless homicide and reckless driving, could have thousands of taxpayer dollars coming to him, angering the family of Kelli and Jessica Uhl, who were 18 and 13, respectively, when their vehicle was struck head-on by Mitchell's patrol car the day after Thanksgiving 2007. "At least at the beginning, he was a disgrace to his uniform, now I believe he is a disgrace to the human race," said Thomas Q. Keefe, the attorney representing the girls' parents, Kimberly Schlau and Brian Uhl. Two other girls, passengers in the car, were also injured.
Kiss loyalists, long the butt of rock-critic jokes, have a new reason to be rankled: the artists listed on the Hall of Fame's 2011 ballot, which was announced this morning, include the Beastie Boys, Neil Diamond, Alice Cooper, Bon Jovi, Donovan, Tom Waits, LL Cool J, Dr. John, the J. Geils Band, Darlene Love, Laura Nyro, Donna Summer, Joe Tex, and Chuck Willis. The Beastie Boys got a nod in 2008. Nyro, LL Cool J, and Summer were all nominated last year. Kiss is conspicuously absent, yet again. Hard-rock icon Kiss released its self-titled debut in 1974, which means in 1999 the band became eligible for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. But Kiss wasn't listed among the nominated bands in 1999 -- or 2000, or even 2001, for that matter. In 2009, the theatrical band finally made the ballot, but it didn't rack up enough votes for induction, and fans fumed while ABBA and the Stooges received the honor instead.

WORK KEEPS 75% OF PEOPLE FROM SLEEPING WELL: Nearly three quarters of people struggle to get a good night's sleep because they are worrying about work, a survey has revealed. The British poll found that a string of bad days at the office can even invade our subconscious with a third saying work cropped up in their dreams at least twice a week and especially on Sundays. Half said the lingering recession and gloomy predictions for the next 12 months stressed them out as it made them fear they might lose their jobs. Four in 10 of those who manage to drop off say they wake up again in the early hours due to work worries.
TEXTING WHILE DRIVING KILLS THOUSANDS: Almost 6,000 motorist deaths in 2008 were caused by a driver using a cell phone in some capacity. According to data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Fatality Analysis Reporting System, auto deaths involving cell phones have increased 28 percent between 2005 and 2008. Since overall use of cell phones has been steady over that period, experts attribute this jump to more and more motorists texting while operating their vehicle. In light of these statistics, more laws restricting texting while driving may be necessary.

As for a hover board, which was also shown In Back To The Future 2, an artist has been working on one but so far it only goes up and down. Make way for the future everybody.
A new survey of Americans' knowledge of religion found that atheists, agnostics, Jews and Mormons outperformed Protestants and Roman Catholics in answering questions about major religions, while many respondents could not correctly give the most basic tenets of their own faiths. Forty-five percent of Roman Catholics who participated in the study didn't know that, according to church teaching, the bread and wine used in Holy Communion is not just a symbol, but becomes the body and blood of Christ. More than half of Protestants could not identify Martin Luther as the person who inspired the Protestant Reformation. And about four in 10 Jews did not know that Maimonides, one of the greatest rabbis and intellectuals in history, was Jewish.

Tampa, FL - A gardener was horrifically killed after being decapitated when a rope around his neck was dragged into a wood chipper. As the noose tightened around his neck it decapitated his head from his body. Other workers made the horrific discovery when they shut down the machine. The gruesome accident happened in Tampa, Florida, where 44-year-old Vargas was part of a five man crew trimming trees on a suburban street. Cheyenne, Wyo. (AP) -- A Cheyenne man who doused himself with white latex paint in hopes of avoiding a police Taser was hit with the stun gun anyway. The Taser chase happened Sept. 16, when Cheyenne police went to Brian Mattert's house on a domestic violence call. The Wyoming Tribune Eagle reports that when police arrived, Mattert thought they'd use a Taser on him, so he hastily covered himself in paint and told officers that if they shot him with the stun gun, he'd die. Officers told him the paint wouldn't affect the Taser's capability. According to police, Mattert scuffled with officers and was hit with a Taser twice before officers handcuffed him. He faces several criminal charges. Police say the officers' uniforms had to be cleaned.
TMZ - Bristol Palin already has a cheesy excuse for why she was inside a bar in Alaska last week even though she's under 21 -- and it all comes down to nachos. A state investigator is reportedly looking into a "Dancing with the Stars" segment that 19-year-old Bristol taped inside Rumrunner's Old Towne Bar and Grill on Thursday. But a source extremely close to Bristol tells TMZ ... "The place is also a restaurant ... so under 21 is allowed under Alaska law if accompanied by a person over 21, which she was." Bristol was with her partner Mark Ballas during the segment -- and he's 24. And here's the rub -- our source is adamant, "Bristol had nachos only." So far, the Alaska Department of Public Safety has no official comment on the situation.
The McCarville Report - Cable rules for election news, and Fox News rules when it comes to cable. That's the conclusion of a Politico/George Washington University poll. The poll found that 81 percent of Americans watch cable channels for their election news, primarily Fox, CNN, and MSNBC. But Fox is the clear winner, with 42 percent of poll respondents saying it's their main source of election news, compared with 30 percent for CNN and only 12 percent for MSNBC.
Three cheers for California! The state budget was due three months ago, but California lawmakers are still working hard on behalf of state residents. Amongst their legislative handiwork this year: a bill that would bar foreign cows from appearing in California milk ads as California cows. The bill's author, TED LIEU (Democrat) said filming parts of the ads in New Zealand was "very misleading." The milk board denies using overseas bovines in place of California ones. "The only images of cows filmed in New Zealand are foreign cows, unhappy cows from all the world, auditioning to become a California cow," said the board's vice president of advertising. California lawmakers have also busied themselves with the creation of "Motorcycle Awareness Month," a "Cuss Free Week," and a "Lobster Management Enhancement Advisory Committee." Last but not least, state senators battled over a bill that would change the state rock. At the moment, it's serpentine, but Sen GLORIA ROMERO (another Democrat) wants to see it replaced. "We shouldn't have a known carcinogen as the California state rock," she said. The bill is currently stuck in committee
You might not know it. But, the United Nations has a department called the Office for Outer Space Affairs. But, Agence France-Presse says the U-N is denying reports that it has appointed an official point-of-contact in the event of alien visitations. A recent newspaper article claimed the U-N had named Malaysian astrophysicist MAZLAN OTHMAN to the post of "chief alien ambassador." According to the report, Othman was set to announce her otherworldly agenda during the upcoming World Space Week celebration, October 4th in England. But, officials with the United Nations are denying everything. In an official media interview last year, Othman was quoted as saying the UN Secretary General would be the one to "represent mankind... if we do make contact with aliens."
NEW MOON FOOTAGE OF NEIL ARMSTRONG TO BE PUBLICLY SHOWN: Footage that was lost for many years of astronaut Neil Armstrong stepping onto the moon's surface in 1969 will be shown publicly in Australia next week for the first time. Astronomer John Sarkissian, who's in charge of the Australian side of the recordings restoration project, told AFP the footage that runs for a few minutes is considered to be some of the best of the historic moonwalk, but was lost in archives for a long time and was badly damaged when found. The first few minutes of Armstrong's descent down the ladder from the Apollo 11 lunar module to the moon's surface was recorded in Australia as NASA was still trying to get a good signal, so it shows a much clearer image than was initially shown around the world. Telescopes in Australia played a key role in the Apollo 11 mission, including providing the TV signal, after Armstrong decided to attempt the moonwalk early, putting the U.S. just beyond the horizon. The footage will be screened at the awards night of Australian Geographic magazine, with Apollo 11 astronaut Buzz Aldrin as the guest of honor.
