  • OUTBREAK: 30 miles north: At least 6 Oologah-Talala elementary school children stricken with bacterial meningitis; two of whom have DIED this week - a 7YO boy and an 8YO girl.
  • Students there are being provided with antibiotics (with parental approval)
  • Schools is CLOSED there today; next week closed for Spring Break
  • For about $250, people as young as age 2 can get meningococcal vaccine
  • OK Dept of Health opens hotline for info meningococcal 866-278-7134 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • REJECTED: Tulsa City Council votes 4-3 to reject Dewey Bartlett's budget amendment that sought to finalize the budget cuts. (Christiansen, Henderson, Barnes, Turner oppose; Westcott, Bynum, Mautino support; Eagleton, Trail absent) They want the mayor to explain each of the cuts, one by one.  In all, the cuts total $10 million.
  • Tulsa's annual singing political satire - the 2010 Tulsa Gridiron - Friday and Saturday night ONLY at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center. Tickets at 596-7111 or tulsapac.com.
  • BOOM - A high pressure gas line exploded south of Hwy 66 just west of Chandler.
  • The right lane of WB I-44 closed btwn Lewis and Riverside at 6:00 am through Saturday at 5:00 pm. Crews are working on the roads surface. You can expect long delays in the area.
  • We lose an hour of sleep this weekend as Daylight Saving Time begins.
  • TPD motorcycle officer breaks leg in crash yesterday as he loses control near I244/Harvard.
  • APPRAISED VALUE vs. MARKET VALUE - The Mayo Hotel's developers say they'll pay $1 million for the building, where they plan a hotel. Appraised at $4M-$6M in 2007.
  • TEAM COCO - Former Tonight Show Host Conan O'Brien comes to Tulsa's Brady Theater May 15th. Tickets start at $43 up to $695!
  • A federal appeals court in San Francisco upheld the use of the words "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance and "In God We Trust" on U.S. currency, rejecting arguments on Thursday that the phrases violate the separation of church and state.
  • CONF USA Tournament: TU advances after defeating Marshall, 80-64. TU plays UTEP in the semifinals today at 3pm. Game, pregame starting at 2:30pm, heard here on KRMG.
  • WHAT? A member of OK House moves picture of Obama from State House chamber.
  • WHAT? PSEG Nuclear power in NJ says the US man charged in Yemen with being a member of Al Qaida had previously worked at nuclear plants and had cleared federal background checks as recently as 2008.
  • Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's wife and daughter were hospitalized Thursday -- the wife with a broken back and neck -- after their minivan was rear-ended by a tractor-trailer truck on an interstate highway in suburban Virginia
  • Tiger Woods has reportedly decided that the earliest he will resume his professional career would be at the Masters next month, but he hasn't finalized his decision.
  • RESCUING THE RESCUERS - After years of fighting in court, lawyers representing the city, construction companies and more than 10,000 ground zero rescue and recovery workers have agreed to a settlement that could pay up to $657.5 million to responders sickened by dust from the destroyed World Trade Center.  However, a judge and 95% of the workers must agree to the settlement for it to become official.
