Another Tulsa Home Invasion Robbery - With Deadly Consequences

By Joe Kelley, Host of the KRMG Morning News

From the Tulsa World -

Police are looking for two men who shot and killed a Tulsa man during a home invasion robbery early Tuesday.

Frederick Anthony Wilson, 25, was pronounced dead on the scene after being shot once inside his home in the 4000 block of West 45th Place about 12:30 a.m., Tulsa County Sgt. John Bryant said.

Two men broke into Wilson's home through possibly a window or glass sliding door in the back of the residence, Bryant said. Wilson and his girlfriend were home at the time.

The men, one of whom was armed, demanded money. When the residents gave them money, the robbers stated it was not enough, Bryant said. They tied the couple up and searched the home.

Still upset not to find additional money, one of the men shot Wilson, and both of the men left.

Wilson's girlfriend managed to escape and ran to a neighbor's, where the police were called.

Tulsa Police are assisting Tulsa County with the investigation to see whether Tuesday's home invasion is related to one over the weekend.

You'll note that both the Tulsa World and KRMG are utilizing a mugshot in identifying the victim. He is a registered sex offender.

Is the victim's offender status germane to his violent death?

Perhaps not directly. Perhaps not at all.

But, it may point to a lifestyle that puts a person into a higher risk level for violent crime.

There's always an important distinction to be made between random crimes and familiar crimes. Tulsa County Sheriff's Deputies will determine whether the victim knew the perpetrators in this crime.

If this crime proves to be random, as the Sunday morning home invasion near Utica Square Sunday morning appears to be, then this will and should cause many Tulsans to think twice about home security.
