Behind the scenes at the Lynn debate

By Jamie Dupree

Once again, members of the news media are elbow-to-elbow in a college campus gymnasium, waiting on the third debate between President Obama and Republican Mitt Romney at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida.  Here is your look behind the scenes.

The setup is a familiar one - several rows of seats for reporters from the Obama and Romney press corps and all kinds of space for other reporters from around the country and the world.

As in the past debates, there will be a big gathering after the event is over, as surrogates for both campaigns will argue their man "won" the debate.

Here is a quick look at this week's version of "Spin Alley."

These gatherings are also fun on a personal level, as you run into a lot of your colleagues from the news business.

At one point we got a half dozen national radio people together for a quick photo:

And we had a little bit of inside (geek) radio news humor as we pooled our knowledge and resources to fix a piece of high tech radio equipment, and had a spirited debate about how much equipment you should take on the road to cover a political campaign.

You won't be surprised to know that the guy who had the replacement piece of equipment, also carries the most luggage with him.

After this debate, it is a two week sprint to Election Day - not only for the candidates, but for the reporters covering the campaign as well.
