The White House continues to run with the new theme of President Obama, "We Can't Wait," making the argument that if the Congress won't approve Obama Administration initiatives, then the President will do what he can on his own.
That's what happened on Monday, as the White House rolled out new rules to help struggling homeowners avoid foreclosure.
And that will happen again today, as the White House will announce new plans to help veterans find work.
The President hammered that home on Monday during a fundraising stop in Las Vegas.
"So I’m here to say to all of you -- and to say to the people of Nevada and the people of Las Vegas -- we can’t wait for an increasingly dysfunctional Congress to do its job. Where they won’t act, I will."
"We can't wait" is the new buzz-phrase for the White House, replacing the "Pass That Bill" line.
The deployment of "We Can't Wait" was met with widespread derision from Republicans, who went on Twitter to seize control of that phrase, just as they did with the unveiling of the "Attack Watch" website a few weeks back.
"We can't wait till you're gone," Tweeted one critic.
"We can't wait to rein in government regulators," said Rep. Kevin Brady (R-TX).
"We can't wait for Washington Democrats to embrace a Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution," tweeted House Speaker John Boehner.
Back out in Vegas, the President probably wasn't checking Twitter to see the mocking comments by Republican members of the Congress.
"We can’t just wait for Congress. Until they act, until they do what they need to do, we’re going to act on our own, because we can’t wait for Congress to help our families and our economy," the President said, alluding to unilateral actions by his administration.
On Tuesday, those will center on ways to help veterans get jobs.
" The announcement is part of a series of executive actions that will help put Americans back to work and strengthen the economy because we can’t wait for Congressional Republicans to act," said the White House press release.
As of now, the pleas for action on his jobs bill, the calls of "Pass that bill" and now "We can't wait" don't seem to be moving GOP lawmakers at all.
Especially, the "We can't wait" phrase.
"We can't wait for Alabama v. LSU," tweeted Rep. Dennis Ross (R-FL).
