Lipdub videos are popping up everywhere on YouTube these days, but a group of researchers at McGill University in Montreal is using its lip-synching skills for a good cause.
Scientists, students, lab techs and volunteers at McGill have created a lipdub to Taio Cruz's hit 'Dynamite' at the Goodman Cancer Research Centre to promote their work and raise money for research.
According to a Canadian Press story, included in the dance video are the Goodmans, for whom the centre is named, along with Dr. Phil Gold, whose early research led to the discovery of the carcinoembryonic antigen, a blood test used in the diagnosis and management of patients with cancer.
Signs are held up at several points during the video, including ones reading "Together We Can Find a Cure."
Medical supply company Medicom said it plans to make a donation to the research center based on the number of views the video receives.
According to a univesity spokesperson, the ideas was to reach out to younger people ""where they live, which is online, and to get the message out in a non-traditional way."
