This is the dog that was shot and killed by Tulsa Police as it was protecting the man that was struck by a car in the early morning hours Friday on HWY75 southbound near 21st street. As police and EMTs tried to provide aid to the unconscious man, the dog lunged at the officers. Scanner traffic indicates that the officers were told it would take an hour for animal control to arrive at the scene in an attempt to capture or tranquilize the dog. At that point the police shot the dog with a single gunshot.
