A trip to Las Vegas to thank his clients turned out to be what nearly killed a medical marijuana dispensary owner.
One of the men on that trip was Kyle Handley. Handley was convinced the guy who took them was wealthy and had hidden huge piles of cash in the desert near Palm Springs.
Handley and three others made a plan to rob, beat, and kidnap the man from his Newport Beach, California home.
Then, the real trouble began.
The four crooks took the business owner into the desert and began to torture him in an effort to make him tell them where the supposed money was.
That torture included a blowtorch and the cutting off of his penis. Thinking the man would die they poured bleach all over his body to try and remove fingerprints and physical evidence.
Their biggest problem was, the man survived. A woman who was kidnapped with the man was able to get help after they were left for dead.
Kyle Handley was arrested last October and he began to talk.
This week Ryan Kevorkian and his wife, Naomi Kevorkian were arrested in Fresno and Hossein Nayeri was taken into custody in Prague.
The case is beginning this week in Orange County, California.
