BA Police Department gets canine training course

On Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at 6:00 p.m., a new canine agility/obstacle course will be presented to the Broken Arrow Police Department.

Gabe Sipes, a graduate from the Broken Arrow Police Department's Junior Police Academy, earned his Eagle Scout Award by designing and constructing an agility/obstacle course for the police dogs.

While Gabe was in Junior Police Academy, he noticed that there was no dedicated place to train Broken Arrow's police canine partners.

Gabe raised money through donations from local FOP organizations and he received a sizeable donation from Tactical Electronics in Broken Arrow to complete the project.

Gabe designed each obstacle and oversaw a team of adult and scout volunteers to make the project possible.

Gabe is the son of Broken Arrow Police Captain Greg Sipes.

Broken Arrow representatives will attend the presentation, along with Broken Arrow Chief of Police, several police officers who are also Eagle Scout and police canine demonstrations will take place on the new course.
