Looking for leads in cold case

Sometime around March 6, 1998, a young man was murdered and his body discovered in Tumwater, Washington.

The medical examiner in Washington state had determined he died of blunt force trauma and an accelerant was used to prevent identification.

Washington State detectives with the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office believe the young man was from Oklahoma.

The victim reportedly told several individuals of his ties to this state.

Detectives working the case recently requested OSBI Forensic Artist Harvey Pratt help identify the victim by sketching his likeness from postmortem photographs. That sketch is attached.

The victim is believed to be in his late teens or early 20s, between 5'8"-5'10" tall, weighed approximately 165 pounds with short, light brown or red hair.

Investigators saw no marks, scars or tattoos on his body.

If someone recognizes this man who has not been seen since March 1998, please contact Detective Ron Knapp with the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office at 360-786-5278 or the OSBI hotline at 1-800-522-8017.
