Insurance commissioner supports Bridenstine act

Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner John D. Doak is encouraging support of Congressman Jim Bridenstein's Tornado Warning Extension Program.

The bill is also known as House Resolution 2413.

The resolution would fund a research program within the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to extend the lead time for tornado warnings beyond one hour.

"Protection of life and property is of utmost importance during severe weather events such as the ones we see in our state," said Doak.

According to Doak, "This bill is significant to improving severe weather detection and promoting safetey not only in Oklahoma, but across the country."

The resolution has been reported out of the House Science Space and Technology Committee with no objections.

Congressman Bridenstine's resolution has bipartisan support.

Congressman Bridenstine anticipates the bill will be taken up by the full U.S. House of Representatives within the next few weeks.
