Governor Mary Fallin and U.S. Senator Jim Inhofe respond to President Obama’s announcement that at least 600 unaccompanied minor who have illegally immigrated to the U.S. will be housed at Fort Sill in Lawton, Oklahoma,
The illegal children range in age between the ages of 13 through 17 years old.
Estimates from Senator Inhofe’s announcement state that the number of children could be as high as 1,200.
According to Governor Fallin’s office, “…I am dismayed by what appears to be an endless cycle of illegal immigration, temporary housing and eventual amnesty for those who have broken our laws. Today's news is the latest in a long line of policy missteps that the American people are paying for.”
Senator Inhofe’s statement, while also of concern at the administration failure to check the illegal immigration problem, also expressed confidence in the people of Lawton and the personnel at Fort Sill.
“I have no doubt the Fort Sill and Lawton community will rise to the occasion, but in the interim I am working with Congressman Tom Cole to get better answers from the Obama Administration."
Children could be arriving as early as Tuesday, June 10th.
