Bowe Bergdahl, an American Army sergeant who has been held captive in Afghanistan since 2009, is now a free man.
He was set free on Saturday and is now in Germany.
In exchange for Bergdahl’s release, five high ranking Taliban members currently at Guantanamo Bay will be released.
Bergdahl was taken prisoner in June 2009 after he left his base in east Afghanistan.
Why he left the base has never been determined.
U.S. officials say a deal was brokered with the help of the Qatar government.
The Qatar government will take custody of the Taliban detainees.
