Pastor tells congregation to stop looking at Zimmerman verdict "through black eyes"

His name is Dr. James David Manning and he’s no stranger to controversy or strong opinions.

Manning made headlines this time with a sermon concerning the outcome of the George Zimmerman trial.

In his message to the ATLAH World Missionary Church in New York City, Manning told his predominantly black congregation to stop looking at the world through their "black eyes" and instead look at it through the "blood of Jesus."

Manning explained it like this “the only reason why you think that way is because you’re black,” Manning continued. “You see the world, not through the blood of Jesus, you see the world through your black eyes. You have not changed yet.”

Manning continued “you’re black before you’re anything. You’re black before you’re Christian, you’re black before you’re Holy Ghost, you’re black before you’re anything. You’re blackness is greater than your religion. And that’s why with you, Zimmerman’s guilty.”

Manning also hinted that he thought Martin may have smoked marijuana before he went to the 7-11 to buy snacks and a soda the night he was killed.

He also demonstrated how marijuana can also make a person paranoid. “Someone is following me,” the pastor said, acting out his words.
