Tulsa, Okla. —

The powerful storms that whipped through south Tulsa Friday afternoon knocked a popular casino offline for about 14 hours.

River Spirit Casino on Riverside Drive in south Tulsa closed due to damage to power and air conditioning facilities caused by high winds, lightening and rain at approximately 6 PM Friday evening.

While the facility had backup power from generators, “We are not operating at a capacity that makes the facility comfortable or safe for our loyal guests," General Manager Jerry Floyd told KRMG.

Power was restored approximately 5 AM Saturday morning, but the casino kept its doors closed until 8 AM.

Marketing manager Bob Dimmick tells KRMG the entire casino is back in operation, including all the restaurants.

The older part of the casino suffered some physical damage, but no one was hurt.
