Tulsa WNBA star, fiancé arrested in Phoenix

Two WNBA stars were arrested in Arizona Wednesday, including a player for the Tulsa Shock.

KRMG was able to find records indicating Brittney Griner, a star player for the Phoenix Mercury, and Glory Johnson, one of the top players for the Tulsa Shock, were arrested on assault and reckless endangerment charges.

The two players made national headlines when they became engaged in August of last year.

Griner, 24, helped lead the Phoenix Mercury to a WNBA championship last season.

Johnson, also 24, played NCAA ball at Tennessee.

She was a first-round pick (fourth overall) by the Tulsa Shock in the 2012 draft.

Last season, she averaged 15 points and 8.9 rebounds per game.

She was named to the WNBA All-Star team in 2013, and was the first Tulsa Shock player to be selected as the WNBA Western Conference Player of the Week that same year.

Griner was the top pick in the 2013 draft, and was selected for the All-Star team in both 2013 and 2014.

Police in Goodyear, Arizona say the couple got into a fight Wednesday, leading to the arrest by Maricopa County deputies.
