Tulsa veterans gather to remember fallen brothers

Memorial Day weekend 2015 may be remembered by some for the impact severe weather had on the Tulsa area, but for Tulsa veterans, it’s about their fallen brothers.

KRMG spoke to several veterans spending their Memorial Day with each other at the Coffee Bunker near 41st and Sheridan in Tulsa.

“This is my second home.” U.S. Army Ranger and Vietnam veteran Tim Parchman said.

Parchman told KRMG veterans of all ages like to spend time there.

“We have a big brotherhood here.” Parchman said. “We have a large number of Vietnam vets, we have Desert Storm vets, Iraqi Freedom vets.”

Parchman said the big crowd on Monday is a normal occurrence around there.

“This is every day for us… This is how we live.” He noted.

Even with the usual activity around the Coffee Bunker this Monday, Parchman said Memorial Day is special.

“This is the national day of remembrance, but for us… We live it every day.” Parchman said.

He added that any veterans in or around Tulsa are invited to join them at the Coffee Bunker whenever they'd like to.
