TULSA, Okla. —

Tulsa Police homicide detectives need your help tracking down a homeless man that they believe can help solve a recent murder.

Detectives tell KRMG that John Vanwoudenberg knows who beat and stabbed Robert Sampson to death earlier this month.

Vanwoudenberg is said to be a transient and has been seen in West Tulsa and the Oakhurst areas.  Vanwoudenberg possibly stays in transient camps along the Arkansas River.

He is an Indian man, 6 feet tall weighing 185 lbs. He is 47 years old.

Detectives also need help locating Robert Sampson’s vehicle.

The 1998 midnight blue Ford Explorer with the Oklahoma tag number 972-DNY has not been seen since Sampson’s murder was discovered on March 14, 2013.

KRMG has learned that the vehicle could possibly been missing since late February or early March.

The vehicle could be in Tulsa or further south in Glenpool or Okmulgee.

Tow agencies are being asked to check their records for this vehicle being towed as abandoned property.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (918) 596-COPS or the Homicide Tip Line at (918) 798‐8477.
