Tulsa on pace for warmest year on record

By Steve Berg

Tulsa, Okla. —

Barring a record-cold December, Tulsa is on track to have the warmest year since records starting being kept in the early 1900's.

National Weather Service meteorologist Steve Piltz says it won't be anything too dramatic, maybe one-tenth of one degree.

"We won't blow it away.  We're just going to end up tying or being just a hair above other seasons, other years that have been like this," Piltz said.  "But it's certainly rare.  It doesn't happen too often."

He said the record average yearly temperature for Tulsa is 63.7 degrees.

He said it looks like this year's average yearly temperature will be 63.8.

He said December is starting off warm, so he says it's unlikely that we would see a record-cold December, with temperatures down in the 20's.

He says most Decembers in Tulsa average out with temperatures in the 40's.

Right now, he says the winter forecast for Tulsa is in flux.
