Tulsa jobless rate falls to under 5 percent

Tulsa's unemployment rate is down. 

Figures released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics show the jobless rate for the Tulsa metro fell to 4.9 percent in April. 

In March it was 5.3 percent and one year ago Tulsa's unemployment rate stood at 6.2 percent. 

Nationally, unemployment was down in 342 out of 372 metro areas, 25 areas had higher rates, and five were unchanged. 

El Centro, California and Yuma, Arizona recorded the highest unemployment rates in April, 26.8 and 26.0 percent, respectively. 

Bismarck, North Dakota registered the lowest jobless rate at 2.8 percent, followed by Fargo, North Dakota and Lincoln, Nebraska at 3.3 percent each.
