TULSA, Okla. —

Reconstruction work on the main, 10,000 foot runway at Tulsa International Airport is scheduled to resume next week.

Airport officials say it's the third out of four phases of a $55 million project to completely reconstruct the airport's main runway.

KRMG is told that the impact to airlines should be minimal, however passengers could experience delays or cancellations when weather conditions prohibit the use of the crosswind (east-west) runway. Those are generally when northerly or southerly winds exceed 25 knots, when the cloud ceiling is below 500’ or when visibility is less than 1.5 miles.

The airport anticipates the third phase of the project to finish in June.

The most complex and disruptive part of the project involves the reconstruction of the intersection of Runway 18L/36R and Runway 08/26.  This phase is scheduled for construction in 2014.
