News On 6 Chief Meteorologist Travis Meyer says it does appear that there is just enough of a boundary here in northeastern Oklahoma that we're going to have to be watching out for a few isolated strong to severe thunderstorms this afternoon.

The boundary will be located from about I-44 near Tulsa to Joplin this afternoon.

That would set us up for a few strong to pulse-severe thunderstorms that could have some large hail and damaging winds.

They'll be brief but there could be a few.

Our chances of thunderstorms are running about 20%.

Then later this week, we're going to start to see at least a touch of a heatwave.

Temperatures will be moving into the low to mid-90's.

Heat index to near 100's for our first shot of real summer weather.

There is so much heat and humidity right now across eastern Oklahoma for this afternoon that it should create a few storms that could have some large hail and damaging winds.
