Wife released in latest homicide investigation

Update: We have new information regarding yesterday's early morning homicide, where a woman admitted to fatally shooting her husband.

The homicide happened near 11th and Sheridan.

Tulsa police say the 63-year-old woman was released, after being questioned.

It's believed she shot her 61-year-old husband in the stomach, after the pair got into multiple fights.

Police say the woman grabbed a gun after the first fight and asked her husband to leave.  He was then shot when the couple fought again.

They were living together, despite the fact there was a protective order in place.

So far, no names have been released.

This was Tulsa's 8th homicide of 2015.

Original: A man was killed in Tulsa early Saturday morning and his wife has already confessed.

Police say they received a call about a shooting at the Melrose Apartments around 2:15 a.m.  The victim's unidentified wife made the call and admitted to shooting her husband.

When officers arrived at the scene near 9th and Sheridan, they found the victim.  He had been shot at least once in the chest.

The victim was immediately transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Officer's didn't have to search very hard to locate the wife.

Police say she was standing outside when officers arrived and still had the gun.  She was taken into custody.

It's believed the shooting happened during an argument.  The circumstances behind the argument hasn't been released.
