Get ready to pay more if your gas tank is sitting near empty.

Prices jumped at the pump 11-cents since Tuesday.

That is how much more you will pay for a gallon of regular gas today.

Where you could find gasoline for $2.88 a gallon yesterday, there are a number of places selling it for $2.99 this morning.

We talked to one truck driver this morning who just got off work after working overnight.

"Last night everybody was at $2.88. I noticed coming into town everybody was $2.99 and I of course noticed you all on the radio and I heard you all talking about it and when I got to my work there at Apache and Harvard when I was coming in to the terminal I saw that it was $2.88 there so I stopped," he said.

We talked to BOK financial expert Jim Huntzinger.

He says from what he can tell, gasoline prices should be dropping.

He says the U.S. dollar has gotten stronger compared to the euro, which typically causes oil prices to drop.

"The economics don't seem to fit, but y'know competition and other things can cause prices to maneuver around quite a bit," he said.  "But I don't know that there's any real fundamental reason why you would see that much of a jump overnight."

Also, he says the worldwide economy remains sluggish, which means demand should be steady or dropping.

"It looks like we're going to be in for a fairly low-growth environment around the world," he said.  "And that would portend for at least a while that energy prices would be unchanged to slightly lower as we go through time."

Another texter reported seeing prices at $2.88 and $2.89 in the Sapulpa area and stopped to get gas.

"If they see it, get it. That's what I did. That's the only way I think you really can do it. I mean, 10-cents, 11-cents, you know, isn't a whole lot, but you know if you get a significant amount, it adds up and you could have gotten another gallon," he advised.

The Berryhill E-Z Mart Shell station at 6104 West 41st Street is selling gas for $2.89 per gallon.

The Flying J station at 129th East Avenue and East Admiral Place is $2.88 per gallon.
