Tulsa again on the brink of mandatory water restrictions

Enforcement would begin Friday, if water usage today tops 204-million gallons

By Dan Potter

Once again, Tulsans are facing mandatory water restrictions starting tomorrow if we don't cut back on the amount of water we use today.

The city's Michelle Allen says yesterday, "We hit 204.66 million gallons (of water used) and, basically, if we have another day of 204 (million gallons used) again today,   we will be going into mandatory restrictions on Friday."

The city is already asking residents to limit lawn watering to between midnight and noon, every other day.

If water usage tops 204-million gallons today, the city will switch from asking to ordering.

But, the restrictions would remain the same.

The mandatory restrictions would be enforced by city code enforcement officers and by police.

Violators could face fines between $100 and $500.
