17,829  people cast ballots in Tulsa County yesterday.

County election board secretary Patty Bryant says it was a smooth day with the new voting machines.

"We have learned so much and we've had some re-tweaking from that," says Bryant, "and there's just so much these machines can do and I'm confident they're totally accurate."

One improvement Bryant cites is a change in the voting machines' software after it was discovered that two voters and had cast two ballots in the April election.

Now, the machine flashes a large message indicating the vote duplication, where before the warning message was small and not easily seen by precinct officials.

Bryant says they are always looking for more precinct officials to work at polling places.
