KRMG has obtained the distribution plan whereby the City of Tulsa will deploy more than 230,000 trash and recycling bins to its residential customers.

The distribution begins Monday, July 16 and will take approximately ten weeks to complete.

Each customer will receive two carts, a grey one for trash, of a size that can be specified by the customer and a 96-gallon blue cart for recycling.

The program is largely geared around making recycling easy for the customer.

All recyclables, including plastics numbered 1-7, tin cans, glass, cardboard and paper all go into the bin unbagged.

Here is the distribution schedule given to KRMG by the city:

Weeks 1-2:         West Tulsa;  56^th Street North to Admiral;  Yale to 145^th East Ave.

Weeks 3-5:         Admiral to 31^st Street; Arkansas River to I-44

Weeks 5-7:         I-44 to the Broken Arrow Expressway; East to 193^rd East Ave.

Weeks 7-8:         31^st Street Joining the Broken Arrow Expressway; South to 61^st Street

Weeks 8-9:         61^st Street to 91^st Street; Arkansas River to Garnett Road

Weeks 8-9:         91^st Street to 131^st Street; Arkansas River to Garnett Road

Weeks 9-10:       Northwest Quadrant

Once residential customers receive the new carts they should begin using them immediately.

We asked Liz Hunt with the city what people should do with old carts and bins.

She said they can be re-purposed around the home or left to be picked up by city crews.

They will only remove them if they are clearly labeled for removal, for instance with a sign that says "Please Take" or "Discard."
