This may come as a surprise to many TPS parents.

There's still unfinished business with Project Schoolhouse involving 6th graders.

This year most of the 6th graders are at elementary schools.

That was a change from the Project School House Initiative.

Some are still at junior highs.

One of the biggest problems is space at the elementary schools.

Authorities at Tulsa Public Schools are putting together a task force to tackle the issue.

The group will seek public input.

Dr. Keith Ballard, TPS superintendent, says, “Once we determine our philosophy for the sixth grade, then we can build a model that works best, and that may not be materially different from what we have today.”

We caught up with Brandy Kessler having lunch with her mom at a midtown restaurant.

She has three kids in elementary school at TPS and doesn't think it's a good idea to put 6th graders there.

Kessler says, “I’m not really sure that I want my 1st grader walking next to a 6th grader and having that same conversation that they can overhear.”

Her idea us to use the empty schools for 6th grade centers.

TPS hopes to have an answer no later than December 19th.
