Temperatures and tempers are on the rise in Tulsa area

By Staff

Perhaps you've noticed as the temperature goes up, so does the frustration.

The heat and road construction around the Tulsa area isn’t a good mix and in fact is putting people in bad moods.

We got a text from a Carri Klawitter who witnessed the bad behavior on display about lunchtime Wednesday on Interstate 44 near 129th East Avenue.

She described drivers with hot tempers in a construction zone, "A whole lot of people honking and cutting people off and- well- shooting that little bird across the road.  It looks like they are getting all frustrated sitting in the heat in traffic."

She wasn’t the only driver KRMG heard from about the traffic jam on I-44 at 129th East Avenue which kept traffic tied up most of the day.

"You know everybody is trying to go to lunch- that's a real heavy area for industry and manufacturing and you know these guys only have 30 minutes to get there lunch squeezed in so they are all pressed for time and it's hot and they are cranky and they are hungry,” says Klawitter.

We also heard complaints from KRMG listeners about people speeding in construction zones and waiting until the last minute to merge in construction zones.
