(Tulsa, OK) – A lawsuit against several members of the Tulsa City Council is history.  The attorney for the plaintiffs that filed is has had it dismissed.

Councilor Rick Westcott is not surprised but is glad.  “Obviously it’s a great relief anytime a lawsuit is dismissed and we no longer have to deal with that.”

Westcott says the law was on their side.  “We knew all the time that this lawsuit didn’t have any merit and in fact the plaintiffs had no standing in court to even file this lawsuit.”

Because the plaintiffs had the suit dismissed themselves there is still a possibility it could be filed again.  The suit alleged that the Council had violated the state’s Open Meetings Act last June when they voted in executive session to have Mayor Dewey Bartlett leave their meeting.  That meeting was regarding alleged perjury by the mayor’s chief of staff.
