Strong winds blamed for truck driver's death

OHP works a fatal accident near Miami
Strong winds cause a truck trailer to rollover near Miami, killing one man.

By Michael Purdy

Miami, Okla. —

Strong winds kill a 70-year-old truck driver in Ottawa County Friday afternoon.

Oklahoma High Patrol tells KRMG it happened around 4 p.m. near Miami on the Will Rogers Turnpike.  Jimmy Carl King, of Ash Grove, Mo., lost control of his truck when strong-line winds caused his trailer to flip onto its side  and into a concrete wall.

A second truck also flipped just after 4 p.m. because of the wind.  OHP says it happened near mile marker 315.  The driver was transported to an area hospital and was later released.
