Storms, light snow possible tonight

By Chris Cordt

TULSA, Okla. —

Expect windy conditions today with highs in the mid to upper 60s.

News on 6 Meteorologist Alan Crone tells us a slight chance of storms will remain this afternoon and tonight across eastern Oklahoma followed by a slight chance of flurries pre-dawn Thursday across the northern third of the state.

Crone says, “Today's forecast centers on an upper level wave that is ejecting across the central plains tonight into tomorrow.  This will cause a rapid development of a surface area of low pressure across northwest Oklahoma this afternoon.  A dry line will extend from the low across western Oklahoma and move eastward early this evening.  A cold front will sweep into the state this afternoon and approach eastern Oklahoma tonight from 8pm to midnight with a slight chance of a shower or storm across the eastern third of the state.  Before this occurs, very strong winds are likely today across the state with 20 to 35 mph winds common across eastern Oklahoma.”

Crone believes some snow showers or flurries will be a possibility across extreme northern Oklahoma with a slight chance of a dusting along the Kansas state line as the cold air sweeps across the state later this evening.

Temperatures tomorrow will remain below normal with highs in the lower 40s along with gusty north winds around 20 to 30 mph.
