Storm chances Thursday now 60%

Some of tomorrow's storms will bring damaging winds and large hail

By Dan Potter

Yesterday's rain was just a tease.

Tomorrow is the main act.

KRMG and News on 6 chief meteorologist Travis Meyer says there is a slight chance of a pop-up thunderstorm this afternoon and this evening, but the much better chance for more rain is tomorrow.

"Some of the storms tomorrow afternoon are expected to be strong to severe," says Meyer.

60% of northeastern Oklahoma should get rain Thursday.

"Large hail and damaging winds will be the primary threats."

It will be hot Thursday with a high around 99 and that heat will fuel the storms which will form ahead of a cold front that should bring Green Country a very comfortable weekend.

Meyer says the weekend will be about as nice as it gets in Tulsa in August, sunny with highs in the low-to-mid 80s.
