BROKEN ARROW, Okla. —
Broken Arrow Police are investigating after a soldier bicycling to work Monday morning was injured after being hit by a car.
The hit and run happened around 4:30 this morning on State Highway 51 near the intersection of Nashville Street
Investigators tell KRMG that 24-year-old Brendan Simmons of Tulsa was riding east on a bicycle on the shoulder of the highway when he was apparently struck by an eastbound vehicle.
Simmons was thrown from the bicycle and came to rest in a drainage ditch on the west side of the highway where he was later located.
Simmons was taken to the hospital where he was admitted in stable condition.
At this point, police have no information about the vehicle that struck and injured Mr. Simmons, other than it may have damage to the front passenger side of the vehicle.
Brendan Simmons is a Specialist on active duty with the United States Army.
He was riding his bicycle to work early this morning to the Armed Forces Reserve Center located in east Broken Arrow when the collision occurred.
He was wearing high-visibility reflective clothing when he was struck.
Anyone with information can contact Broken Arrow Police at (918) 259-8400 or call the Crime Stoppers number at (918) 596-COPS.
