Sheridan closed at 93rd after semi destroys utility pole

(TULSA) – Update: Power has been restored to all but 20 PSO customers. PSO said it will take several hours to completely replace the utility pole and string new lines.

PSO crews are on the scene at Sheridan and 93rd after a semi hooked a powerline and snapped a utility pole, pulling lines down across the road shortly after 7:00 Tuesday night.

Sheridan is closed for several blocks in both directions as crews remove the live wire and repair the pole.

The Tulsa Fire Department is also on the scene after live wires sparked several grass fires. Firefighters had to wait for PSO to shut off the power before putting out all of the fires, so the electricity wouldn't come up the water line and electrocute them.

More than 400 PSO customers are without power.

The collision is still under investigation but TPD said the semi was not over height regulation and the driver was not speeding. Officers are also looking into the road being resurfaced and whether a possible height difference could have played a role.

KRMG reporter Brittany Harlow is on the scene gathering information.
