Senator Jim Inhofe said he just flat missed it.

“I’ve never been as wrong in my life in the terms of my predicting.”

After President Barack Obama beat Mitt Romney and won re-election, KRMG asked for the Senator’s reaction Wednesday morning and one thing was painfully clear, he isn’t optimistic.

“Where we’re going from here, it’s a real concern” Inhofe said.

The list of things Oklahoma’s senior Senator is worried about isn’t short.

“The four areas where this president has failed is in his deficit, the war on energy, the downgrading of the military and overregulation.”

The Senator says with the balance of power remaining about the same, gridlock will continue.

“I look at those things perhaps becoming worse.”

Many in the Republican Party believe the Tea Party Movement is part of the reason the GOP had a rough Tuesday night.

 Inhofe doesn’t agree.

“I would argue that the party would be better off staying with its conservative principles. I’ve never felt comfortable saying we should move to the middle to get more people. I think you lose more than you get.”

KRMG asked Inhofe for opinions on what Mitt Romney could have done to turn things around.

“Toward the end of the campaign it looked like Romney was doing very well so he became sort of laid back, like his last debate."

The Senator thinks that was a big mistake.

“I think in retrospect he should have remained as aggressive as he was in the first debate.” With a slight sigh Inhofe took a breath and finished, “But it’s easy to armchair that one.”

One bright spot on the night for Inhofe was how the Sooner state voted. Once again, every single county went for the Republican nominee.

“This makes me so proud of Oklahoma, we’re still the reddest of the red,” he said, beaming.

The Senator pointed to the state’s congressional elections as proof.

“I’m so proud of Markwayne Mullin, I’m proud of Jim Bridenstine,” he commented.

Inhofe told us he looks forward to working with both men and he hopes they can add to the party’s muscle in the Congress.

Inhofe chuckled a bit when he pointed out, “If the rest of the nation were like Oklahoma we wouldn’t be having any problems right now.”

The Senator took a deep breath and then summed it all up.

“The Lord is still up there and you and I will be talking again in two years at the midterm elections and maybe things will be better.”
