We didn't get the thick blanket of snow that we needed, but News On 6 Meteorologist Travis Meyer says with both of the recent snow events, it's the most moisture we've seen in a long time.

Trav says, "Even though the snow was just not quite what we wanted, it ended up being a great rainfall again across the Tulsa area with one to one and a half inches common."

The long term impacts still remain and severe to exceptional drought conditions continue across all of eastern Oklahoma, but the last few weeks have made a huge difference.

"It's not over by any stretch of the imagination, but over the course of the last 30 days over four inches of rain have fallen in the Tulsa area. Normally this time of year we'd have about an inch and a half. So, this has been a surplus that we have not seen since last year."

Those are solid numbers that could normally cause problems with flooding.

Travis says we're still very dry.

"Even though the rainfall amounts were great, it's still is going to take a tremendous amount of water. We're still thinking around eight or ten inches of rain."

We would have about a month or so to get there.

 "And that has to be soaking rain. That can't happen all at once and just run off because we need sub-soil moisture. Right now the top soil, it's muddy, but you go down about six to eight inches and it's bone dry all the way down 36 inches."
