PSO electric bills are going down by more than 12%.

Stan Whiteford with PSO says natural gas prices are at historic lows.

That's what is used to generate a lot of electricity.

Whiteford tells KRMG, "If you used a thousand kilowatt hours at this time last summer, you'd have paid $97.98 on your electric bill. This year the same amount of electricity will be $85.88."

The new price started on the June billing cycle and the price is expected to go down even more.

“Then we’ll go to off-peak prices and that’ll lower our prices even more come the fall.”

That'll bring a bill for $85 dollars down to $76.

On the flip side, natural gas producers in Oklahoma are struggling to stay open.

Whiteford says if we have extreme heat like last year, everyone will need to still conserve so there's enough electricity for everyone.

Last year there were a few days that were close to capacity with so many people using their air conditioners.
