Police say store was robbed on December 18th

Tulsa Police are hoping new information will lead to a break in the case of a convenience store clerk who was murdered.

They say 55-year-old Peggy Gayton was shot by two masked men at the Shell station on December 22, near 36th and Harvard.

Now investigators believe Gayton’s case may be connected to a robbery at Ryan's Convenience Store on December 18, near 21st and Highway 169.

The robbers appear to be dressed the same as the two men responsible for Gayton’s murder and attempted robbery.

Police released surveillance pictures from the robbery at Ryan’s Convenience Store to see if the public can identify anything that would help.

The owner of the Shell Store called 911 and said his surveillance system showed his employee lying on the floor behind the counter.

Police responded to the scene, along with the Tulsa Fire Department and EMSA medical attendants.

The victim was declared dead at the scene.

She had been shot.

Tulsa Police Captain Travis Yates described Gaytan as a grandmother who had just adopted some children.

Surveillance video shows that two masked males arrived at the south doors of the store at 10:46 p.m.

They stop and talk and then retreat out of the camera's view.

Within 15 seconds, one suspect returns and enters the store.

This suspect enters the south doors, walks to the counter and shoots the clerk.

If you have information on either robbery, call Crime Stoppers 918-596-COPS.
