The top of political news Monday centers around what's happening in Tulsa.

U.S. Senator Jim Inhofe and presidential hopeful Governor Rick Perry, of Texas, held a joint news conference Monday afternoon at the Tulsa Press Club in downtown Tulsa.

Senator Inhofe announced his support for Governor Perry in his race for the White House.

Perry announced the four principals that he supports to a room full of reporters.

He says he will support no more stimulus money, lower taxes, deregulation and eliminating foreign dependence on oil.

Perry says, "The idea that we are depending upon energy from countries in some case who are sworn enemies of ours is of great concern."

The issue on the minds of many Oklahomans is Afghanistan.

Perry says, "As the president of the United States, and as an individual who volunteered to wear the uniform of our country, I will never send our young men and women into places where America's interests are not clearly defined."

He adds that he insists to have a clear plan to win and a clear exit strategy.

Monday morning Perry addressed the Veterans of Foreign Wars' annual convention in San Antonio.

He told members at the convention U.S. forces heading into combat must be led by American commanders, not multinational organizations.

He says he wants the U.S. to avoid ``military adventurism.''

Perry also says the U.S. military must be ready to strike whenever necessary and ``not concede the moral authority of our nation to multilateral debating societies,'' drawing a long applause.

He was invited as governor of the state hosting the VFW convention before entering the presidential race.

Another Republican presidential candidate, Mitt Romney, is scheduled to address the convention Tuesday.
