Developers looking to build an outlet mall in Tulsa could be moving their proposed location.
The original plan was to built it near Turkey Mountain near 71st and Highway 75.
The public pushed back on the idea of development happening so close to a place where Tulsans go to escape the noise.
The developers are now looking at possibly putting the outlet mall in Jenks, not far from the Jenks Aquarium. The mall would go on a currently empty piece of land south of the Creek Turnpike and west of the Arkansas River.
“It’s been vacant for a long time, they need something there.” A Jenks resident told KRMG.
Others agree they’d like to see an outlet mall close to home, but some worry about the added traffic.
“Some of our streets are not wide enough to handle a lot of traffic.” Another Jenks resident said.
If the outlet mall does end up there, it could open by spring 2017.
