NORMAN, Okla. —

The University of Oklahoma  will soon start using the Common Application for students seeking admission.

The change to the application process will go into effect for new freshmen and transfer students in the fall of 2014.

Students using the Common Application can submit an application to any number of colleges and universities that use the same system.

That means students will not have to fill out multiple applications and write separate essays for each college.

More than 500 institutions in 47 states currently use the Common Application.
