An Oklahoma National Guardsman, home this week from Afghanistan, bought a new iPad only to have it snatched away by a man with a gun.

"Jake" was in a parking garage on Tuesday of this week in Oklahoma City.

Jake said he "saw somebody running up to the truck."

Tricia Collins told the News On 6 that she was a witness when Jake surrendered the $600 iPad and the suspect ran away.

"It all happened so fast," Collins said.

"I don't see how somebody can be, excuse my wording but, so stupid to rob somebody so out in the open."

Jake said that if this had happened two months later when he turns 21, he would use the conceal-carry law and would be armed with a gun.

But there's sort of a happy ending.

The Penn Square Apple Store that sold Jake his iPad replaced the stolen one for free.
