OKC Thunder return home to crowd of thousands

By Staff

The Oklahoma City Thunder team is home after the loss last night to the Miami Heat in Game 5 of the NBA Finals.

The team was greeted by thousands of fans at the Oklahoma City Airport in a field where a stage had been set up.

Several players including Derek Fisher and Kendrick Perkins got up and talked to the crowd.

Kevin Durant was one of the first players to talk and he first thanked his teammates.

"I love these guys, man, we are all like brothers.  Last night was one of the toughest times we have ever had as a group but coming back home we knew we'd see you guys in the morning,” said Durant.

He was followed by players like James Harden and Russell Westbrook who both thanked the fans for their support.

Thunder Coach Scott Brooks also spoke, “There’s two things that I always will remember about this team- one that they played very hard and two you guys cheered just as hard.  We thank you.  You guys are great and we appreciate everything.”

The Oklahoma City Fire department estimates 5,000 people turned out to see the players return home.
