A Tulsa police officer is forced to use a knife to stop a suspect early Sunday morning.

Tulsa police tell KRMG an officer had to chase a suspect on foot after a short vehicle pursuit near Edison and Union.

The incident began around 12:45 a.m. during a routine traffic stop.

Police say the suspect pulled into a driveway, got out of his vehicle and started to run.

The officer caught the man and activated his emergency button.

TPD states the two began to fight and the man went for the officer's gun.
