Over the past four years, 13 death reports filed with the FDA have mentioned 5-Hour Energy as a possible factor, according to reports in the New York Times.

Data from the Food and Drug Administration indicates that the high amounts of caffeine were a factor in several serious medical conditions like heart attacks and convulsions.

KRMG spoke with one Tulsa teenager who quit drinking 5-Hour Energy after a friend had a bad reaction.

The 17-year-old says, "I had a friend who had a heart problem and after that I stopped. He had it from the energy drinks. I was done after that."
