TULSA, Okla. —
Some Sears and K-Mart stores are closing, but so far none in the Tulsa area are on the list.
A partial list of 79 stores was released Thursday by the two chains. No Oklahoma stores were on the chopping block.
The list included 38 K-Mart stores and 41 Sears stores of varying formats and sizes. The companies plan to cut between 100 and 120 stores as part of a cost-saving measure.
The cuts were announced this week after the stores failed to show good profits for the Christmas holidays.
Tulsa has two Sears stores and two K-Marts. Shoppers will have to wait until the rest of the closures are announced to know what ultimately happens in Oklahoma.
