The emotional wounds, just five weeks after her loss are still fresh. Faith holds her up. Still, Courtney Thompson says she has more blessings than setbacks.

"When I get sad or upset, I depend on my daughters Anahla and Christlynn to get me through. That's when I know I need to get it together," said Thompson.

Thompson says Christlynn, born October 12 brings back immediate memories of their father George Clinkscale III who died during an unsanctioned boxing match at GUTS church September 21. The Clinkscale family filed a lawsuit against the church last Friday seeking damages in excess of 75-thousand dollars, plus punitive damages and costs. For legal reasons Thompson would not discuss the lawsuit but says she hopes a new foundation in Clinkscale's memory will help keep his memory alive. The foundation will focus on awareness in education, mentorship and healthy eating habits. Nutrition was an important part of Clinkscale's life.

"The goal of this foundation is to stay very busy and help others just like George did when he was alive. We want to take our time and make sure things are not rushed and details are done right. I hope our kids will one day get involved too."

Thompson says she's overwhelmed by the outpouring of letters, gifts and words of encouragement from complete strangers who knew what George meant to his community.

"People will never know how much this means to me and my family. The letters actually helped me get over some really tough days. I can't thank those who donated enough."

A new website supporting the George L. Clinkscale foundation is set to launch early next year.
